Kevin L. Peterson, P.E.
Experience
P2S co-founder Kevin Peterson has vast experience in planning, analyzing and designing projects encompassing waterfront, industrial, institutional, military and commercial power and lighting systems. Peterson also brings considerable experience in the design, analysis, upgrading and retrofitting of medium-voltage power distribution systems.
Peterson is past president of the 12,000-member the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Industry Applications Society (IAS). His activities at the institute include serving as publications department chair. He is a director of the executive committee of ACEC CAMEE (Council of American Mechanical & Electrical Engineers). He is also the chair of IEEE P80005-1 Shore Power Connection standards working group and is the IEEE’s technical liaison to IEC TC18 MT26 (IEC/ISO/IEEE 80005-1) developing international standards for medium-voltage, shore-to-ship connections.
Prior to founding P2S, Kevin Peterson served as Chief Electrical Engineer for SPARVAN, Inc. He received his B.S. in electrical engineering from California State University–Long Beach.
Current Activities
Kevin Peterson has served as president/CEO of P2S Engineering since 2005 and is responsible for P2S’s strategy and vision, capital allocation and culture. The firm has been recognized in PSMJ’s Circle of Excellence for exemplary management of clients, staff, and projects in 2007, 2009, 2010 & 2011. The firm was also named as one of the best places to work in Los Angeles by the LA Business Journal in for the past three years.
