P2S Wins Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility

P2S Engineering has won the 2010 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility, a national honor recognizing the company’s efforts to provide a variety of workplace options that allow employees to perform the best work. The Sloan Awards honor organizations of all sizes and all types across the country that are using flexibility as a strategy to increase workplace effectiveness while yielding positive and improved business results.

Now in its sixth year, the prestigious awards program recognizes P2S Engineering and will feature the firm in the annual Guide to Bold New Ideas for Making Work Work, published by Families and Work Institute.

“At P2S Engineering, we continuously focus our efforts on initiatives that will improve the work environment for our employees,” said Kevin Peterson, president and CEO of Long Beach, California-based P2S Engineering, Inc. “Flexibility has been part of the foundation of our firm’s culture,” said Peterson. “It’s important that there is balance between life and work, and we’re honored to be recognized for our efforts in this area.”

The Sloan Awards are unique for their rigorous criteria. To win, applicants must rank in the top 20% of U.S. employers in terms of their programs and practices for creating effective and flexible workplaces, based on nationally representative data from the Families and Work Institute. Notably, two thirds of the overall score is derived from a confidential employee survey, ensuring that these programs and practices have a real impact on the employee and workplace experience.

P2S has also been recognized by The Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the Best Places to Work in Los Angeles, having garnered this coveted award for two years running.
