May 2009: PSMJ Resources, Inc., one of the A/E/C industry's leading management training and consulting firm, has recognized Long Beach based P2S Engineering for the second time in three years in its Circle of Excellence. Based on information collected by PSMJ for its 2009 Financial Performance Survey, firms were ranked based on 13 individual benchmarks weighted by importance to overall operational success. These benchmarks are indicative of performance in the various aspects of business†operations, including cash flow, overhead control, business†development, project performance, staff utilization, and overall profitability.P2S was recognized as one of 44 firms in North America for exemplary management of clients, staff, and projects. “We are extremely honored to be recognized for the second time in three years among the top firms in our industry which is a tribute to our remarkable staff at P2S”, says P2S President, Kevin Peterson. “Our number one objective is to provide our clients with the highest level of service while maintaining our focus on providing innovative engineering solutions”.
January 2009: Kent Peterson has been named as chair of the Standard 189.1P committee. As ASHRAE, USGBC and IESNA move forward in developing the nation's first standard for high-performance, green commercial buildings, membership on the committee developing the standard is being reconstituted. Proposed Standard 189.1, Standard for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, will provide minimum requirements for the design of high-performance new commercial buildings and major renovation projects, addressing energy efficiency, a building's impact on the atmosphere, sustainable sites, water use efficiency, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality. It is being developed by ASHRAE, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
June 2008: Kevin L. Peterson, P.E., was appointed as a Director of ACEC's Council of American Mechanical & Electrical Engineers (CAMEE). CAMEE provides up-to-date information and educational programs to member firms on how to best serve their clients.
May 2008: With buildings in the United States accounting for nearly 40 percent of our country's energy use, the green building sector is calling for increased congressional action on sustainable design to help reduce emissions. July 2007: P2S entered three teams into this year's Annual Imua Outrigger Corporate Challenge in Newport Beach, CA. The Corporate Challenge fundraiser is an all-day event where you can experience the thrill of a real Hawaiian outrigger canoe race. Businesses and groups from around Southern California join with experienced Imua steerspeople to test their stamina and spirit! This event benefits the EarthResource Foundation and Hoag Hospital.
