Today, more than half of this Long Beach, California consulting engineering firm’s revenues are generated from our work with educational facilities. Our experience includes central plants, utility infrastructure master planning and upgrade projects, HVAC retrofits and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology design for new and existing campus facilities. With this depth of experience, P2S understands the usage needs of campuses, how to phase projects to keep schools operational and how environmental conditions affect learning.
With a thorough understanding of the dynamics associated with designing and executing educational facility projects and the extensive experience offered by its team, P2S has a large portfolio of completed projects on university and community college campuses. In fact, P2S currently holds appointments as campus engineers on more than 20 campuses in California.
This experience contributes significantly to our ability to design systems that are upgradeable, maintainable and cost-effective to reconfigure, thus providing a high degree of flexibility essential for our educational clients—for renovation and new construction projects.
We have worked with the California Division of the State Architect (DSA), understand its requirements and designed high-performance educational facilities that emphasize the health and productivity of both students and faculty.
Our full scope services for education campuses include field investigation, cost estimating and value engineering, construction document preparation, equipment selection, bidding and construction administration services. Combined with our field experience, P2S can thoroughly and accurately document existing systems and capacities. Finally, our extensive construction administration experience provides us the expertise to plan and phase a complex campus-wide project with minimum impact on students and staff.
